pdf, I was actually put off for a second by the use of a single d10. I actually have had the opposite reaction, but probably to a lesser degree. I can see where a d20 is more likely to do this than a d6 or a d10, but the "appeal of the d12" is just going to get it on the floor more often, really. I don't know of any system that has no calculation whatsoever, and if you're not rolling dice into a box (or something similar), they are going to get on the floor sooner or later. Why can't I just incorporate aspects of those systems without needing a handfull of dice?įirst of all, I can only really feel you with your argument "a". The appeal of the d12 is that it rolls better than d10! The only reason why the 2d6 is there is that some folks like to use an 'averaging' system. My conclusion is that systems should be either: d12, d10, d8, d6 or 2d6. Long ago I decided that the maximum number of dice necessary for an RPG would be something like 2. (d) The delay while the GM figures out how many dice you roll and you find the dice from your bag (it's so much easier if you're always rolling the same dice) ![]() (c) There's always a chance that one or more dice will roll off the table and must be re-rolled. It seems that just about every system recommended here is a multiple dice system.
